Mayor Derrick Henry and the City of Daytona Beach are committed to residents' health and well-being. Whether you’re already fit or you want to learn how to get fit, join us as we get moving together.

 The Mayor's Fitness Challenge will take place from Tuesday, January 7 through Saturday, March 14. The first session at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Midtown Community Center, 925 George W. Engram Blvd., will feature a weigh-in as well as further information regarding the 10-week program. Registration is only $20 per person and the first 100 participants will receive an official Mayor’s Fitness Challenge memento. The classes will be on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m.

The healthy program features a schedule of fun activities for adults of all ages and fitness levels. Bi-weekly sessions include activities like yoga, Zumba, line dancing, strength training, walks and a variety of other indoor and outdoor activities. There will be a weigh-in at the beginning of the program and again at the end to track results and the man and woman who lose the most weight while completing the program. Prizes will be awarded to those who lose the highest percentage of weight. First place is $500, second place is $250 and third place is $100. Additional prizes will awarded.
