Big hats, small cars - Shriners Parade in Daytona Beach

The highlight of the Shriners annual convention, which is in Daytona Beach for the second year, is their over-the-top parade! And who doesn’t love parade!

The Shriner’s signature event, drawing about 400 entries, will be Tuesday, July 17, beginning at 7 p.m. along A1A in Daytona Beach. The parade will begin in front of Sunsplash Park and travel north to end at Ora Street.  As the parade travels in the northbound lanes of A1A, spectators can watch from the sidewalks along A1A and from the southbound lanes of A1A.

Attention motorists: Expect delays, be patient, allow yourself plenty of time and follow well-planned detours

There will be closures along A1A from Silver Beach Avenue to Seabreeze Blvd.

Approximate times and sections of closures (see map):

The northbound lanes of A1A from Silver Beach Ave. to International Speedway Blvd. will close beginning at 3 p.m. to allow for staging of parade entries.

Southbound lanes will remain open as long as conditions are safe for pedestrians, parade participants and motorists.

Both north and south lanes of A1A, between International Speedway Blvd. and Seabreeze Blvd. will be closed from 6:30 to 11 p.m.

All residential streets running east and west in the area from Silver Beach Ave. to International Speedway Blvd. will be closed to through traffic.

The main east-west corridors – Silver Beach Ave., International Speedway Blvd., Main St., Oakridge Blvd. and Seabreeze Blvd. will remain open; however, for the safety of pedestrians and parade participants, access to A1A, from Silver Beach Ave. to Seabreeze Blvd., will be blocked.

Depending on the progression of the parade, A1A is expect to be reopen in both directions at 11 p.m.

A fireworks show over the ocean in the area around the Daytona Beach Pier will begin following the parade.

Parking is available in area surface lots in the area and also in the garages at Ora Street and Oakridge.
