Water Rescue Team
The Program
The Daytona Beach Fire Department Water Rescue Team started in the early 1980’s. It was established for the purpose of safely conducting underwater and water borne search, rescue and recovery. Tactical priorities of the team include quickly locating and removing incapacitated, entrapped, or missing victims from the water. The team responds quickly to cover many miles of the Atlantic Ocean coastline, the Halifax River (Intracoastal Waterway), numerous lake, ponds, and canals within the city.

Team Members
The eight member Water Rescue Team from Daytona Beach Fire Department trained at the Daytona Beach Community College Lemerand Aquatic Center. Dive Rescue Team leader Shane Doyle taught rescue techniques and the use of the team's new Diving Drysuits. 

The team members have qualifications including:
  • U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain
  • PADI Rescue Diver
  • SSI Dive Rescue Specialist
  • State Certified Paramedic
