Can I park my car in my yard?
No, the City of Daytona Beach, Land Development Code, Article 8, Section 2.7 states:
(a) There shall be no off-street parking in the front yards or street side yards of any residential district, except as customary in the driveways of single-family dwellings and duplexes.

Do I need an Occupational License to rent my house?
Yes, the City of Daytona Beach, Code of Ordinances, Chapter 90, Section 297 states:
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person, either directly or indirectly, to conduct any business or nonprofit enterprise or to use in connection therewith any vehicle, premises, machine or device, in whole or in part, for which a license is required by any section of this Code, law or city ordinance without a license being first procured and kept in effect at all such times as required by this Code or other law or ordinance.

How do I get an Occupational License to rent my house?
Any person wishing to rent their residence needs to go to Permits and Licensing at City Hall, 301 South Ridgewood Avenue, room 127, and apply for one. There is a fee of $48.00 for the application. A rental inspection will be conducted by Permits and Licensing and they will notify you if and when your application is approved. The Occupational License will then be mailed to you.

How many people can live in a rental house?
The City of Daytona Beach, Code of Ordinances, Article 1, Section 4.3 states:
(c) Only one principal use shall be established per property. Use of a single-family dwelling or a duplex unit in any residential district shall be restricted to residential occupancy by one family. No more than two unrelated persons may live in a rental house.  Family: Any one of the following when living together in a dwelling unit or using it as a common place of abode for 30 days or more in any three-month period:

  1. A natural family of one or more persons who are all related to each other by law, blood, marriage, or adoption.
  2. Six or fewer persons living together in a facility licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Family Services in accordance with F.S. § 419.001(2) or amendments thereto.
  3. A maximum of two unrelated persons.
  4. A group of two or more unrelated persons, where necessary to provide reasonableaccommodations for handicapped individuals in accordance with applicable federal law.

Can I park my boat or trailer in my driveway?
No, the City of Daytona Beach, Land Development Code, Article 8, Section 2.7 states:
Recreational vehicles, boats, boat trailers, and utility trailers may be parked temporarily on driveways for a period not exceeding 24 hours for purposes of loading and unloading and minor maintenance. At all other times, they shall be parked in the side yard behind the front wall of the dwelling or in the rear yard.

Can I keep my vehicle on my property if it doesn't have a license or if it doesn't run, and I am working on it?
No, the City of Daytona Beach, City or Ordinances, Chapter 42, Section 111 states:
Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, it shall be unlawful for any person, either as owner, occupant, lessee, agent, tenant, or otherwise, to store or deposit or cause or permit to be stored or deposited any abandoned, junked or discarded motor vehicle upon any public property, or on any commercial or residential private property within the City.

If I do major work on my own house, do I need a permit?
Yes, the City of Daytona Beach Land Development Code, Article 19, Section 1.1 states:
(a) The Florida Building Code, as referenced in § 553.73, Florida Statutes (or any successor provision), with local amendments as set forth below, is hereby adopted by reference, including all codes incorporated therein and including all revisions which may from time to time be made by administrative rules promulgated by the Florida Building Commission pursuant to F.S. Ch. 553.

Do I need a permit to cut down a tree?
Yes, the City of Daytona Beach Land Development Code, Article 18, Section 3.4 states:
A clearing permit is required to move, remove, cut down, destroy, or damage any tree, or  any native vegetation protected as part of required landscaping, buffer, or preservation area.

May I keep items, such as sofas, building materials, car parts, appliances, and coke machines in my driveway or front yard?
No, the City of Daytona Beach Land Development Code, Article 18, Section 7.3 states:
Storage of building materials, commercial and industrial equipment, materials, objects or waste relating to commercial or industrial uses, or any equipment, materials or objects that are not incidental to a residential use, shall be prohibited.
