Crime tips can come in many forms and as technology changes, so does the way we receive information.  Now cell phone users can provide anonymous tips via text messaging.

Text-A-Tip is a program that allows tipsters to provide information to the Daytona Beach police department about unsolved cases, vandalism, theft, drug deals or crimes being planned in the community or schools.

Using a cell phone with texting capability, simply send a text to C-R-I-M-E-S (274637) and in the body of the text use the code “DBTIPS” along with any information. No cell phone? You can send an online tip by clicking here.

There is no cost of this service; although standard text messaging rates apply.  Tipsters’ identities are guaranteed to remain anonymous because all personal information is encrypted before the text message is received by detectives.
