Community Centers & Programs

Community Centers reopen

The city’s community centers have reopened at full capacity and are also available for private rentals. At the facilities, the gyms, fitness centers, libraries and computer labs are available for use. Face masks are required to be worn in the centers and everyone entering will have their temperature checked. The centers are open Monday through Friday with the following hours:  

  • Dickerson Community Center, open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Midtown Community Center, open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Schnebly Recreation Center, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • YSG Community Center, open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

City's playgrounds reopened

Just in time for fall weather, the city’s playgrounds at its parks have reopened. Residents should wash hands frequently as the playground equipment is not sanitized. The city’s parks have reopened with the exception of the splash pad at Breakers Oceanfront Park, Manatee Island and Cypress Aquatic Center, which remain closed. So, get outside and enjoy the cooler weather and the dozens of parks in our area. Check out the list and locations of city parks online.

As of March 20, 2020
As of today at 5 p.m. all city-operated community centers and parks will be closed until further notice. Also all city Leisure Services programs, including baseball, t-ball, soccer and youth Spring Break program, have been suspended until further notice. 

As of March 18, 2020
All community centers remain open.

The city is limiting activities and programs that have more than 50 attendees.

City-sponsored programs for senior citizens including meetings, daily fitness programs, recreation classes and social events at city facilities have been canceled.

The Mayor’s Literacy Initiative has been suspended until further notice.
