Established in 1993, the Marine Unit is responsible for patrolling and safeguarding all waterways within Daytona Beach, including the Halifax River / Intracoastal Waterway.
Our marine officers assist other city departments in their work, notably code enforcement with the removal of derelict boats and other code issues where bodies of water are involved.
The Marine Unit also cooperates with maritime units from other law enforcement agencies when needed, including our partners at the local, state and federal levels.
These officers have also helped with water rescue - be it human or animal - and with providing support to marine scientists from various organizations who do research in the Halifax River.
