Five Arrested For Drug Trafficking Following POP Unit Raid

POP Raid 1118 Live Oak Avenue 21-06741 488 x 450

Five Daytona Beach residents now face felony drug trafficking charges after officers with the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) executed a search warrant yesterday afternoon at a home near Tuscawilla Park.

DBPD’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Unit entered the residence at 1118 Live Oak Avenue at 8:39 a.m. Tuesday (April 13, 2021) after getting the search warrant signed by a Volusia County judge earlier in the day.

Officers discovered 5.5 grams of fentanyl, 2.1 grams of cocaine and various kinds of drug paraphernalia in the home, including glass smoking devices, digital scales and syringes, according to POP Unit Captain Scott Lee.

“The investigation started last month after several residents in the neighborhood reported narcotics activity at this location,” Lee added. “We want to thank those people for coming forward. That kind of information helps us do our job in ridding the streets of drugs and those who deal them.”

The five people taken into custody all reside at 1118 Live Oak Avenue and were found in the home during the raid. The charges they face are as follows:

William D. Belden (59 years old): Trafficking in fentanyl (felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

Sheldon R. Campbell (43 years old): Trafficking in fentanyl (felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

Wayman D. Hunt (51 years old): Trafficking in fentanyl (felony), possession of cocaine (felony), violation of probation (felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

Carrie M. Rayburn (37 years old): Trafficking in fentanyl (felony), possession of cocaine (felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

John T. Taylor (35 years old): Trafficking in fentanyl (felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

This is the sixth such raid conducted by the POP Unit since last December and the third involving a private residence. Similar warrants were served last March at a home on Goodall Avenue and a home on Ribault Avenue last January. Five people total were charged following those raids.

The other three raids involved two separate motels: two at the Best Southern Sun Plaza on Ridgewood Avenue and the Camellia Motel on North Atlantic Avenue. 15 people total were charged following those raids.

Those who would like to report similar problems in their neighborhoods can contact DBPD POP Unit Sergeant Kevin Connelly at (386) 671-5162.
