On Sept. 23, 2020, the City Commission adopted an ordinance prohibiting the tethering of dogs or cats to stationary objects except when specific conditions for humane tethering are met. The penalty includes a maximum fine of $500. Tethering animals unsafely can cause injury, increased aggressiveness, exposure to disease-carrying insects or even death.
